Cybersecuring PLC and SCADA systems

Cybersecurity has become a major issue for all IT-systems.

IT-systems do include control and monitoring systems (SCADA) as well as the actual control units (PLC). SCADA and PLC systems in contrary to normal PC and web-based systems do usually have a lifetime of 10 to 20 years, as they are normally used in production facilities.

Given these facts most PLC/SCADA systems being used in production as of 2015 are not cybersecure against attacks unless they are upgraded on SCADA and PLC firmeware level or not network connected, and even if they are not networked they may be compromised by USB sticks or the programming tools PC when connecting for maintenance or minor changes.

Statmed Research can provide security functionality at the PLC or SCADA-system level, which essentially will avoid STUXNET like situations, thus PLC operation is changed and the SCADA-system indicates different than the PLC is actually operated.

Even other security enhancements on existing HW can be provided, together with risk analysis and overall workprocess cybersecurity review.

It is not necessary to visit the customer location therefore we can provide our services worldwide. None the less we prefer to meet customers in real life.
